When it comes to the campaign mode, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is not shying away from graphic violence and disturbing imagery. In fact, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will reportedly show dead children in at least one mission, where players themselves are controlling a nine year old girl that's forced to kill people.

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare child soldier mission was detailed by YouTuber Drift0r. Those who would rather wait for the game to launch to find out what happens in the mission should note that his comments could be considered spoilers, though it's worth pointing out that this mission is supposedly one of the earliest ones in the game.

In the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare child soldier mission, players control a nine year old girl who wakes up in the rubble of a building that was destroyed by invading Russian forces. One of the first things this girl sees is her mother dying horribly from her injuries. The girl and her father then rush home to get her 11 year old brother. On the way, they see Russian soldiers mowing down civilians, and they see bombs continue to fall from the sky and destroy buildings.

Eventually, the girl and her father make it back home. A Russian soldier kills the dad, forcing the young girl and her brother to fight him themselves. The girl has to search the house for weapons and use stealth to sneak up on the Russian soldier, where players are able to do things like cut his Achilles tendon, for instance. After being sliced and stabbed multiple times, the Russian soldier catches the girl, beats her, and tries to strangle her to death.

The girl is saved by her brother, and then the two of them work together to finally kill the soldier. Players then try to escape from the city by hiding from Russian soldiers. This leads to a playground covered in mustard gas that is littered with the bodies of dead children. Drift0r said in his video that the children "all died pretty graphically." The girl and her brother also come across a dying dog who they have to ignore and let die.

After making their way through a poppy field, the girl and her brother come across two more Russian soldiers blocking the exit from the city. This leads to another stealth sequence that ends with the girl getting her hands on a gun. "You shoot one of them in the head and blow his brains out," Drift0r explained.

Drift0r has said that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare makes No Russian look like a Pixar film, and from the sounds of it, he's not joking. He also noted that the violence in this new game is also a lot more realistic, which may make the scenes even more shocking than they would have been in past Call of Duty games.

Drift0r anticipates that the level of violence in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare campaign will make it difficult for him to upload videos of it to YouTube. It will be interesting to see if the multiplayer or co-op modes have this same level of graphic violence, or if they will be toned down like past games.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will launch on October 25 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
