As many predicted, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has gotten off to a fast start, not only becoming one of the best selling games of 2019 but smashing numerous sales records including becoming Activision's biggest selling digital opening in its history. Naturally, Infinity Ward is planning on keeping the game updated with new content for its player base through frequent updates and an upcoming battle pass system.

So far, the big question facing Activision and infinity Ward has been when the battle pass system would be implemented into Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. A recent investor call may have given away that very information as the first season and Battle Pass are planned for launch in December. While the company wouldn't say much else, it can be assumed that the release will be earlier in the month considering major holidays like Christmas.

Interestingly enough, the call also seemed to suggest that this planned launch is a bit behind schedule, with Infinity Ward taking extra time to develop the content inside of the season and battle pass.

Either way, the battle pass will follow the formula established in other titles like Fortnite, with a free and premium level. However, the biggest change is that the pass will only contain cosmetic items, eliminating the pay to win aspects that were present in past entries. COD Points will also be awarded at various tiers, allowing players to use this premium currency on other cosmetic related items from the in-game store.

In addition to the battle pass, Infinity Ward has removed the traditional seasonal pass to add post-launch maps to the game for free. In fact, Infinity Ward recently announced that two new maps are coming to the game this Friday on November 8 along with the fan favorite mode Hardpoint. With rumored fan favorite maps from past games expected to make a return in the future, fans have a lot to look forward to with this shooter.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
