Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has been filled with cheaters, hackers, and community problems since its launch. Although Activision and Infinity Ward have worked tirelessly to reduce the hacking population, the problem continues to persist.

Several fans are now reporting a new kind of Modern Warfare hacking problem that rises above simple in-game cheating. Players' Activision accounts are going missing, and fans are growing concerned that their personal information may not be as secure as they once thought.

The problem resurfaced on the official Call of Duty: Modern Warfare subreddit after Reddit user ShoesUpBaby drew attention to this lingering problem. Community opinion is that posts are being deleted whenever the topic of stolen account are brought up, and evidence shows that this could be true. One of the most famous posts on Activision accounts going missing comes from user RexiGator. Although it is full of solid evidence, the post has been hidden from timelines and shows a clear moderator removal tag only two hours after being posted. Fans feel that this problem is not being addressed and through moderation actively hidden from news feeds.

The banning of posts related to Activision Account theft is not a fault of Activision. Reddit communities are ran by fans, not developers, resulting in moderation based on personal preference. Despite massive support on both posts with hundreds of upvotes there is a good chance that many fans will not see their content.

Players have found some positive outcomes from Activision Support who actively reverse damages to proven breached accounts. Despite this, the number of fans who report having their accounts stolen continue to rise. Reports of new thefts appear almost daily on Reddit with Activision Support pending resolutions. While fans wait for accounts to be repaired, they hold out hope that Activision might add additional security measures on top of two-factor authorization.

For many fans the fear is buried in the amount of personal information and time dedicated into each account. Hours of game play along with connected credit cards are lost in each breach, resulting in player's personal security being put at risk. Although game time can always be replaced, stolen information is not so easy to fix. Players who accounts are compromised are advised to report the incident immediately to Activision or Blizzard support for any chance at getting lost information recovered.
