Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's recent 725 shotgun nerf may have the opposite results than the ones intended by Infinity Ward. Now, in specific instances, the 725 shotgun is now more overpowered than ever.

Since the launch of the game last month the 725 shotgun has been an anomaly. Word has quickly spread that it is one of the most overpowered and exploited weapons and multiple balance changes have been implemented to try and fix the 725. Yet, even the most recent patch can't seem to combat this unstoppable shotgun.

In a Youtube video, content creator TheXclusiveAce tested out the 725 after the patch where Infinity Ward had claimed to reduce its sniper-like range. In the video, the Youtuber demonstrated that the pellet spread when aiming down sights was tightened, which increases the range at which players can one-shot kill an opponent.. The damage range per-pellet was technically reduced, but this tighter ADS spread increases the one-shot kill range of the 725 without attachments. With attachments, players will see the nerf as intended.

Of course, that makes this a bit of an edge case as most players will use some kind of attachment on their likely extremely leveled up 725. This leads TheXclusiveAce to think the issue is the result of unintended consequence of catering to most play styles. Still, this means that technically the 725 can be viewed as being buffed by the latest Modern Warfare patch.

The 725 nerf/buff wasn't the only update added in the last patch. Balance changes were made to the 725, M4, and some other weapons but most of the notable changes were changes to the game at large. These include additional stability improvements so the game shouldn't crash quite as much as it has been for some players and, most important of all, adjustments to the way the game handles footstep noise. Now, the "walk" footstep sounds play when aiming down sighs, crouching, or moving slowly.

Still, some issues are still cropping up in Modern Warfare. A reddit post found that the hitboxes in the game were failing to register damage correctly. Infinity Ward has not yet commented on the issue officially, but continue to patch and balance the game, while still planning for more new content in the future.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
