The annual Call of Duty franchise is looking to mix things up this year with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, a reimagining of the 2007 classic. In addition to a brand new engine powering the experience, the game aims to be much more mature than previous games in the series by using more grounded and realistic depictions of contemporary conflicts. Of course, multiplayer aims to be a major component of this year's Call of Duty and while Infinity Ward has yet to fully reveal that side of the game, official gameplay for the new Gunfight mode has finally released.
The nearly 6 minute 4K enhanced trailer put together by Infinity Ward shows off official gameplay from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Set on three different maps (the wooded map called Pine, the industrial warehouse King, and the shipping container fortress called Stack), players can get a good sense as to how the fast-paced 2v2 mode works. No respawns make this mode extremely tense where one wrong move can sink a squad.
The trailer also shows off plenty of weapon types from assault rifles and shotguns, to silenced pistols and snipers. Mantling, sliding, and use of equipment are also big aspects of this reveal.
For fans who want even more multiplayer news, they won't have to wait long. On August 1, Infinity Ward is planning a multiplayer gameplay premiere to show off everything fans can expect including more traditional modes as well.
Without much else to go on at this moment, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has seen its fair share of rumors and supposed leaks in the past few weeks. One of the more recent ones seems to indicate that the first beta session is set to kick off on August 1st as well, which would certainly make for an exciting reveal alongside the multiplayer footage during Infinity Ward's event. If other leaks and rumors are to be believed, it would appear that the game is also coming with its own Battle Royale mode and open world take on Spec Ops as well. Either way, players won't have to wait too much longer for actual answers.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare launches on October 25 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
