Activision and Treyarch recently confirmed that the next Call of Duty game is Black Ops 4. That game will be fully revealed at an event that is set to take place in May, with the game itself to be released in mid-October. Given that this game has yet to make it off of the conveyor belt, some may be surprised to learn that the next game in the franchise is already being teased.

According to the social media page of a voice actor, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 may be the Call of Duty game that releases after Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. On IMDB, Craig Fairbrass is credited for the roles of Gaz in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (and Modern Warfare Remastered), Ghost in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Walcroft in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and provided additional voices in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. However, Fairbrass recently updated his Twitter bio to state that he has worked on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 1, 2, 3, and 4.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 Twitter bio

Some fans took the changed bio to mean that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is in development at Infinity Ward and could be the next game after Black Ops 4. The theory is supported by the Call of Duty three-year development cycle, with Modern Warfare developer Infinity Ward scheduled to release the next game.

When they pointed this out to the actor, Fairbrass said that there had been a bit of an "over reaction" because he has "always had the 5 COD games I've worked on." He also stated for people to look at IMDB to clear any confusion up.

Fairbrass has now updated his Twitter bio, and it once again states that he has worked on Modern Warfare 1/2/3, though fans are still wondering why his bio was updated in the first place. One likely reason is that the actor counts Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered as a fourth Modern Warfare game. This would also take Fairbrass' Call of Duty credits up to five. It's also possible that Fairbrass' bio referred to the rumored Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered.

It's unclear whether Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is really in development or whether this is just an accident, but few could blame fans for thinking wishfully. After Infinite Warfare disappointed, Activision and the Call of Duty development teams have been working hard to get the series back on track.

Call of Duty: WW2 went a long way in regards to restoring fan faith, and Black Ops 4 is expected to do the same. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 could also help with that, but hopeful fans will have to wait some time until the game is confirmed with something more substantial than a Twitter bio.
