Over the past few days, rumors and leaks have been escalating for Modern Warfare 2 remaster. The fan-favorite campaign may be releasing very soon. But recent rumors point to the idea that that may be just the start. Modern Warfare 3 could also be on the way as well, topping off the trio of remasters for the insanely popular and successful Modern Warfare trilogy.
This recent rumor is coming from Twitter user TheGamingRevolution, who has been at the forefront of many Call of Duty leaks, including for Warzone. He claims that the game has been being worked on for quite some time. TheGamingRevolution also helped with finding out that Modern Warfare 2 may be being remastered and released on March 30. That will be only in a few days, so players will find out if this is true shortly.
Modern Warfare was rebooted on October 25 of last year, and instantly became the best selling game of 2019. But before that, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 were arguably the three most popular and most well-renown games in the series. The trilogy was a continuation of the same story, so players being able to play the same story on modern consoles would also be nice.
The original Modern Warfare was remastered in 2016, with multiplayer and the campaign. Other than the price point, the reviews for that Modern Warfare were quite admirable. If the leaks and rumors are true for the MW2 and MW3, they may not have the multiplayer, which would be a bummer for a massive part of the fanbase. Still, playing the explosive, memorable, and stealthy campaigns again would be super fun.
There are a lot of things that could be possible with a Modern Warfare 2 Remaster. The same can be said about Modern Warfare 3. In many ways, the success of Modern Warfare Remastered (which is Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare) should be a blueprint for MW2 and MW3. And that may be the case, but time will tell if Activision chooses a different route.
