It's now been a month since Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty: Warzone 2's Season 01 Reloaded launch, and Activision has prepped a patch for both games. Given the size and frequency of content releases for both Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2, frequent maintenance updates are also incredibly important. This patch won't change gameplay in either Modern Warfare 2 or Warzone 2, but it should fix some pesky lingering technical issues. The launch of Season 01 Reloaded for both Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty: Warzone 2 led to a variety of big and small technical issues. Game crashes were understandably the most frustrating common issue, but there were also many smaller problems related to both games' battle pass, the Gunsmith, user interface glitches, and much more. The list of smaller issues is surprisingly long, which is perhaps unsurprising given the size of both Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.RELATED: Warzone 2 Is Bringing Back 1v1 Gulag FormatThe new update for both Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 addresses issues impacting both games, as well as problems that impact each respective game individually. Issues listed for both games include fixes reducing known crashes, improved navigation for the Season 01 Battle Pass, sound fixes for when four or more players were talking in chat, and both navigation and user interface fixes for the Gunsmith. That pesky text issue when working on Attachments is thankfully fixed now.

Warzone 2-specific fixes largely revolve around problems with XP and progression. For example, wins weren't counting toward Calling Card Challenges on occasion, which has now been fixed. There are also XP gain exploits granting XP for players hurting themselves with a Suppression Mine or when using a Stim in the Gas that now no longer work. Another incredibly frustrating bug that's been fixed would cause players to disconnect when opening a Loadout Crate.

DMZ mode was also a focus for many different bug fixes in the new Call of Duty update. One nasty exploit was even allowing players to duplicate items, which may explain some of the mode's frustrating balance issues. Other fixes include a bug allowing players to continue playing after a match was supposed to end, Supply Drops granting duplicated loot to two players, and items within a player's backpack showing up in a Dead Drop. DMZ's got some really eyebrow-raising problems, it seems.

As ever, as substantial as the fixes found in the latest Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty: Warzone 2 update are, there's still a lot left for the developers to address. Now that everyone's back from the holidays, patches will hopefully be more routine again. At least, there will hopefully be more updates between now and Season 02's expected launch in mid-February, which will likely introduce a variety of new concerns.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty: Warzone 2 are available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
