Activision Blizzard is adding the classic Call of Duty 4 map Shipment alongside double XP with the next Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 update. With each launch of a Call of Duty, many gamers get ahead of the XP curve by purchasing certain COD-branded products that come with codes, while other players have had to wait for double XP events like the one coming to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 soon.Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Season 1's mid-season update comes with Shipment, double XP, and several other changes to the live-service multiplayer and Warzone 2.0. Shipment has been featured as a Call of Duty multiplayer map through several installments since it was first introduced in Call of Duty 4, with Call of Duty: Mobile, Call of Duty: Vanguard, and 2019's Modern Warfare. Activision Blizzard has notoriously held double XP weekends for Call of Duty titles for several years and the mid-season XP boost may be a hint at future Modern Warfare 2 events to come.RELATED: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Fan Creates Concept For a G36 PlatformCall of Duty developers confirmed the double XP and double weapon XP weekend runs from 10:00 AM PST on December 15 until the same time on December 19, with PlayStation fans getting a 24-hour head start. Shipment will be added to the core multiplayer map rotation alongside a potential 24/7 playlist with the mid-season update, which releases on December 14, and like with Call of Duty: Vanguard, it will get a Christmas variant from December 21 until January 4. Similar to in past years, this festive spin on Shipment may add candy canes, presents, colorful lights, and more to the small map which come together to help it feel more merry than the traditional version of the location.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's Shipment will differ from past iterations of it because it's on a cargo ship in the deep waters of the Atlantic Ocean, surrounding the map with even more obscurity than the usual surrounding battlefield. Call of Duty level progression has always been helped along by getting kills and that has become an important factor for players trying to unlock new weapons and camouflages. Because of the tight design of maps like Shipment, Nuketown, and Shoot House, 24/7 playlists of such small settings have become a hotspot for players trying to unlock their next camouflage and that may also be the case with Modern Warfare 2 with its addition to the core map rotation.

Although many players have expressed their enthusiasm for the return of the classic Call of Duty map Shipment, others lamented that they weren't getting a less revisited multiplayer arena instead. As one fan suggested that Shipment and Nuketown are inevitable in certain installments in the franchise, another pointed out that it's a series tradition more than stale level design.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
