A ratings board leaked the existence of a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 remaster a year ago, and now it seems like the game is finally about to launch. This is according to credible Call of Duty leakers TheGamingRevolution and Okami13_, who have accurately leaked Call of Duty news in the past.

Apparently, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered is launching on Monday, March 30. Activision hasn't announced that the game even exists, so that release date may seem way too early for some, but it's worth pointing out that the publisher did something similar with Call of Duty: Warzone. Activision announced Call of Duty: Warzone and released it within 24 hours, so it wouldn't be totally out of the question for it to do something similar with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered.

When Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered does launch, it will be interesting to see how much it costs. Leaks have pointed to a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare microtransaction bundle that will come with Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered that will supposedly cost 10,000 COD Points. The Ghost Pack: Oil Rig bundle comes with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered along with a variety of items for Modern Warfare, but 10,000 COD Points is translates to quite a bit of cash. For reference, 2,400 COD Points are priced at $19.99. This could mean that Activision is selling Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered as a full-priced premium game, but that seems unlikely.

After all, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered won't even include what is easily the most popular element of the original game: its multiplayer. While leakers are somewhat divided on this point, apparently Activision opted to keep multiplayer out of the Modern Warfare 2 remaster so as to not split up the community. Instead Infinity Ward is said to be adding more MW2 maps to Modern Warfare, but so far Rust is the only one in the game.

Luckily, if Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered truly is launching on March 30, then fans won't have to wait much longer to find out if there's any truth to these claims. However, it's worth pointing out that a recent datamine didn't find much evidence for more MW2 maps, but rather Call of Duty 4 and Modern Warfare 3 maps instead.

Whatever the case may be, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered should please fans who enjoyed the original's campaign. Hopefully the multiplayer is revived in some way as well, whether it be through a separate release or as remade maps Infinity Ward can add to Modern Warfare.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered is rumored to be in development for unspecified platforms.
