Robert Bowling, the former creative strategy for Call of Duty developer Infinity Ward recently engaged in possibly teasing Modern Warfare 4, is at it again. At this point, however, Bowling, who worked for Infinity Ward for almost six years, may be teasing a remaster of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
In the early morning of May 9, Bowling sent out four tweets possibly related to a Modern Warfare 2 Remastered announcement. First, he tweeted two videos. The initial video was a still of Modern Warfare 2, where the protagonists stand in front of a wall, on which there is text that reads, "Operation Kingfish 10/8/13," probably referring to events from Modern Warfare 2. The video zooms in slowly to capture the face of Ghost, on the far right-hand side of the picture, while playing Johnny Cash's rendition of "Hurt" over the video. Moreover, Bowling captions this tweet with "I will let you down I will make you hurt //10.8.19//," referring to Johnny Cash's popular cover and what may likely be the next title's release date.
The second video is an edited cut-scene from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The video itself is based on spoilers in nature, but its involves two main characters being killed, albeit with an added red filter. The voice of Captain Price, a fan favorite character from the Call of Duty series, narrates the scene in the edit, where he discusses how history is written by "the victor" and how it can only be told through the truths of those who lived through it, specifically applying to situations of war and battle.
The final two tweets are images of Bowling himself, hinting once more at Modern Warfare 2 Remastered, previously leaked by the ratings board. The first image displays Bowling in a studio. Perhaps, it is a production room for the next Call of Duty, as it seems to contain equipment necessitated for that setting. The image is captioned "Me at 10pm: I should get some sleep." He then indicates that the his image of enthusiasm indicates Bowling's state at 2am. The second image shows Bowling taking a selfie in front of either someone cosplaying as Ghost or, probably less likely, a mannequin of Ghost, captioned "Felt cute. Might delete later.#NewProfilePic"
The possibility of a remaster of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 continues to appear more and more likely. While a Modern Warfare 4 could certainly be in the works, as the game is apparently a lot like Modern Warfare, according to Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota, Bowling's tweets could be a hint of something at least related to Modern Warfare 2 specifically. Very focused on Ghost and Modern Warfare 2 altogether, an announcement of a remaster of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 would be of little surprise, and would undoubtedly excite longtime fans, as it continues to be one of the favorite entries in the series for many.
The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 remaster is rumored to be in development for unspecified consoles.
