With the success of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's 2019 release, many fans were expecting a Modern Warfare 2 Remastered multiplayer experience. To increase fan expectations, Activision released a remastered version of the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare for fans to enjoy in full. Despite its success, a recent leak suggests that a remastering of the multiplayer experience may not become available this year.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is an exceedingly popular title, and one that many fans treasure from the franchise. Following the story of Modern Warfare, players dived into the single-player campaign and assumed another operation with some of their favorite characters. Many fans were hoping the remaster's multiplayer experience would be released this year, but a prominent leaker suggests that it will not be set for 2021.

Call of Duty Insider and leaker Tom Henderson has unveiled on Twitter that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered multiplayer is not releasing this year. He is certain of this fact, and said he is willing to give away 50 copies of the game if he is wrong. Henderson has been right about multiple facts regarding the Modern Warfare franchise, but while he believes that this will not happen, there are instances when he has been wrong in the past. Despite this, many fans are taking his word for it and moving on from their hope of a remastered Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer experience.

Fans in the comments share their disappointment, but many assumed that it would not happen anyway. For those that are hopeful, some suggest that a modern audience may not like a remastered experience. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) was a smoother game, and in comparison Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's multiplayer was filled with "noob tubes," shotguns, snipers, and an outdated movement system.

This does suggest the development team is going all-in with the rumored Call of Duty: WW2 Vanguard, but details as to what the title will include are unknown. Henderson has previously leaked that the game is in bad shape, so many fans turn their hope toward Call of Duty: Modern Warfare for answers.

While there are some fans who doubt Henderson, there is a large community that believes he is right. Activision does tend to move in rapid directions, so it is hard to tell facts from fiction. Call of Duty: Warzone is the center of attention at the moment, but fans are constantly looking toward the future.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
