An unlucky fan of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 hilariously died to a missile meant for a UAV. Despite making some noteworthy changes from 2019’s Modern Warfare, Modern Warfare 2 comes with the usual mechanics and gameplay systems players expect from a Call of Duty game.

Like in previous Call of Duty titles, gamers can use a variety of killstreaks after accumulating a certain number of kills without dying, with the UAV being the most basic one from the list. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 adds some new killstreaks while also removing a few to shake things up. Many of these killstreaks can also be destroyed using the various tools available to players, but one fan accidentally gets killed by a missile that was originally meant for a UAV.

A Reddit user named Cheerioboy has shared a clip of them dying to a missile in a match of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The game is being played on Farm 18, one of the most popular maps in Modern Warfare 2, and Cheerioboy running on rooftops with a knife equipped. They see another player on ground level and jump to make the killing blow, before instantly dying due to the opponent launching a missile at the exact same moment. Cheerioboy sounds shocked, possibly at the timing of the opponent’s attack, and decides to watch the full kill cam to get a better idea.

The kill cam reveals that the other player had aimed the launcher at a UAV in the sky and was planning on destroying the killstreak with the missile. Cheerioboy hilariously jumps into view, promoting the opponent to launch it early and kill the user. The player then expresses their level of surprise at the funny sequence of events that led to their death in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. On the other end of the spectrum, a user mentions dying to a missile they launched due to it hitting a nearby wall instead of a UAV.

Cheerioboy had asked about the chances of this happening in the post’s title, so some of the comments give exaggerated answers, such as the probability of this incident taking place during a game being one in a trillion. Additionally, one fan jokingly commends Cheerioboy for protecting the UAV and showing that they are a team player. Some players also mention that this video is the perfect example of “Call of Duty timing,” and the funny incidents that can happen in a match of Modern Warfare 2.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
