Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has wrapped up its first beta testing phase with plenty of valuable feedback coming from the player base, though many have taken issue with the game's general UI and customization interfaces. These concerns were brought up almost immediately, and developer Infinity Ward has now chimed in on the issue with promises of improvements coming down the line.

Namely, while Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's gameplay seems to provide a logical continuation and evolution of its 2019 predecessor, this doesn't seem to be the case with the UI. Players directed critique at its oversized button and illogical menu orientation, and Infinity Ward promises that the team has "identified some UX issues as well as some bugs," though fixes and changes won't be deployed for the second weekend of beta testing.

Players wanted UI changes in Modern Warfare 2 almost immediately upon experiencing the game's customization interfaces and item selection screens. Some have gone so far as to suggest that the existing UI has been built with mobile phones in mind, rather than a PC or console's more comprehensive input options. Thankfully, Infinity Ward is now taking this feedback into account and will resolve issues with "editing perk packages, managing loadouts, and accessing the armory," alongside resolving various UI bugs that have been identified.

Naturally, the game's UI is hardly the only problem that players have come across. The controversial mini-map in Modern Warfare 2 is deliberately being kept as-is, for example, which is sure to be a major annoyance for many gamers. It seems that Infinity Ward will need to toe the fine line between disregarding player feedback and maintaining a cohesive vision for the game more so than ever before.

Amidst all these potential issues, it's also worth pointing out that the game is a step in the right direction in many ways. Modern Warfare 2's weapon handling shows immaculate and remarkably satisfying animations, for example, and its customization features promise a deeper, more interesting meta game than many may have expected to see. And it goes without saying that many of the issues present in this beta will likely be resolved by the game's late October launch window.

The biggest question mark at this time isn't whether the UI will get revamped or whether there will be enough content present to keep players busy, however. Instead, it's the curious disappearance of Marina Bay from Modern Warfare 2. The heavily marketed map is nowhere to be found, and it is seemingly being actively purged from the game's official media. In fact, Infinity Ward's feedback summary didn't even mention it in any capacity, underlining just how strange this situation is.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 launches on October 28 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
