The rumors of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 getting soccer player skins appear to have been true after all, as images of two world-class soccer players as COD Operators have now been leaked. It's no secret that 2019's Modern Warfare jumped the visual shark with various Operator designs that didn't really fit into the game's aesthetic, but Modern Warfare 2's launch roster of playable characters seems to be more grounded.

With just a little time to go before Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's entirety of content is available for all players, it seems that leakers have managed to datamine the available preloaded game files for various cosmetics and more. One of the particularly noteworthy points of contention have been Operator skins, with plenty of interesting content getting shown off ahead of time.

It's no secret by now that Infinity Ward's new Call of Duty game will have some curious playable characters on launch day. Modern Warfare 2's Burger Town Operator is a prime example of this, but when word got around that there might be playable soccer operators, a subset of the player base got worried about what that might look like. Now, images of Neymar and Pogba Operators have leaked, and they come equipped with a full suite of tactical gear that doesn't look awfully out of place after all.

The specifics of Neymar and Pogba's availability in the game remain yet unknown, though it's almost certain that they will be available via microtransaction packs and that they might be related to the FIFA World Cup that's coming up in late November. With Modern Warfare 2 proving a hit already, it's not particularly strange to see world-class sports organizations eager to get some additional exposure via Operator kits.

Since Neymar and Pogba seem to be reasonably well adapted to Modern Warfare 2's multiplayer battlegrounds, judging by the available leaked screenshots, players that aren't keen on purchasing immersion-breaking Operators shouldn't mind their appearances all that much. And since these Operators don't actually appear in the campaign mode, FIFA doesn't need to be concerned about whether they might end up committing war crimes in Modern Warfare 2, as much of the core character roster ends up doing by the end of the story.

Customization-minded players will also be thrilled to hear that Modern Warfare 2 has dozens of weapons available at launch, with heaps more coming as part of subsequent seasonal updates and the like. It's likely, then, that the game's selection of playable characters will be equally impressive, especially if the leaked pictures of Neymar and Pogba Operators are anything to go by.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 launches October 28 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
