Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's campaign length has been revealed, with it taking around 6-8 hours on average for a player to beat. At the time of writing, the release date of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is rapidly approaching, and fans have already gained access to the game through beta weekends, letting those who've pre-ordered get a taste of the multiplayer experience and, more recently, access to Modern Warfare 2's campaign.

It may seem strange for Activision to give players access to the game's campaign before its official launch date, but some fans believe the idea behind the move is to give players as much time with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's multiplayer as possible. No matter what the reasoning is behind the campaign early access, gamers have been able to take a look at the continuation of the story of 2019's Modern Warfare, seeing which classic elements from the original Modern Warfare 2 make it in and which are swapped out.

According to PCGamesN, the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 missions are somewhat of a mixed bag when it comes to length. Some allow for easy completion in a few minutes and are more linear, traditional levels, while other missions give players a near-sandbox stealth experience. However, even with the variety of missions available in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 campaign, it will take gamers on average around 6-8 hours per playthrough.

For those wanting to just rush through and see the main story beats, they'll be looking at a runtime closer to the six-hour mark. However, players who take things a bit slower will have their play time will reflect that. This story length is fairly close to the 2019 Modern Warfare remake, showing that Activision is giving players a reason to run through the campaign of Modern Warfare 2 but isn't making it too much of a slog.

Still, some players weren't able to access the early version of the Modern Warfare 2 campaign due to being banned. As physical copies for the game have not yet been released, those who wanted early access to the campaign had to do so with an internet connection. Should someone be banned from the servers, then, they would also be prevented from accessing Modern Warfare 2's campaign. Some have explained that the Modern Warfare 2 campaign ban is down to a glitch, but it is still concerning for those wanting to enjoy the single-player portion of the Modern Warfare 2 experience.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 launches on October 28 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
