It's obvious to experts when a player has not touched their aim assist settings in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. It results might be a fraction of a fraction of a second in response time, but the game is dictated by these small points in time. A player who is a hundredth of a second faster than another player will win far more often in a straight-up fight.

The right settings for each player are going to differ for every gamer. These are deeply personal choices in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 that should be left for each person to decide. This guide will give players the information they need to set up aim assist so that it works perfectly for them and will have some strong recommendations for those who are unsure.

As a note, these recommended settings assume a maximum field view of 120. Make that change before incorporating these modifications as it will significantly change the way sensitivity functions.

The general idea of mouse sensitivity is that players should be able to look everywhere around them without having to lift the mouse. From the center of the mousepad, move all the way to the left. The player should be facing exactly 180 degrees backward. Now go to the right side of the mousepad and the player, once again, should be facing backward. Turn this up if the player isn't quite turned around and down if they are past the 180-degree point.

Many players are loving the third-person shooting and find that they don't need to move these sliders. If it feels different enough and this is the preferred way to play, go ahead and alter the sliders to compensate. For most players, between 5-10 should be ideal. When in doubt, go lower as it is easier to aim with a lower value.

Tablet sensitivity should be doubled as precision is less important in this mode. When dropping a bomb or marking a cluster of opponents, the goal needs to be to do what needs to be done and exit the mode.

ADS sensitivity changes the sensitivity when looking down the scope. Reducing this slightly increases the ability to aim. Otherwise, the rate is the same as when firing from the hip. Decrease this more when zooming out further to get those ultra-accurate sniper shots off. Players who unlock their favorite weapon will want to revisit this section and get some fine-tuning done.

Unlike the mouse and keyboard, there is no simple test for the correct sensitivity settings. If players are playing with cross-platform enabled and using a controller, they'll need to contend against mouse users, which are going to be lightning-quick in comparison. Turning the sensitivity to 10 or higher can compensate for this drawback.

The 'Focusing' aim may state that it is intended for new players, but turning misses into hits is something even expert gamers will enjoy. The pure pros are using a mouse and keyboard, so don't feel bad about this setting, it's purely compensating for the limitations of the controller.

Changing to the 'Dynamic' aim response curve type gives gamers more control over how well the center follows the thumbsticks. This may sound like a no-brainer as it is indeed the more accurate option, but many FPS gamers are used to the games they play automatically "correcting" their movements.

The default deadzones are downright terrible for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and should be adjusted immediately. This dictates how quickly a response will appear after moving a thumbstick or clicking down a trigger. Turning the minimums down will have the player react sooner and get them ready regardless of which new modes might show up.

Beginners learning about the game should create a private match first to play around with these settings to get them right.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
