At The Game Awards, Activision showed footage from the first raid coming to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 later in December 2022. Modern Warfare 2 officially came out on October 28, but its campaign was available from October 20, giving players enough time to finish the story before moving on to multiplayer. Fans could also earn various bonuses such as double XP tokens and other in-game items by finishing the campaign.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 launched with a standard set of game modes present in other Call of Duty games. Fans interested in multiplayer could select from their favorite gameplay modes like Team Deathmatch, Domination, and Hardpoint, while it also offered co-op missions in Special Ops. It was earlier confirmed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be getting raids in 2022, and Activision revealed a new trailer for the first raid coming to the game.

The video opens by stating that players have never experienced a raid before in a Call of Duty game. It then shows Captain Price and his team exploring an underground location as they face a series of enemy encounters. The trailer promises that new raid episodes are on the way with Atomgrad being the name of episode 1. It ends by confirming that raids are coming alongside Season 1 Reloaded of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 which releases on December 14.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 raids were confirmed to be added in the middle of season 1, which officially started on November 16 with the launch of Call of Duty: Warzone 2. Modern Warfare 2 received the fan-favorite map Shoot House at the beginning of the season, and Shipment is set to launch later on. It looks like Activision only decided to add two maps, with both of them being remakes, to Modern Warfare 2 in season 1 as the bigger focus was probably on Warzone 2.

It'll be interesting to see how the development team implements raids in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. They have gained popularity in co-op games over the year, so it comes as no surprise to see them added to one of the biggest franchises in the industry.

The Game Awards featured tons of exciting announcements including Armored Core 6 Fires of Rubicon by From Software, Horizon Forbidden West DLC, Hades 2, Death Stranding 2, and more. It was also packed with trailers and other important information such as the release dates of many upcoming games including Final Fantasy 16.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
