Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has crossed the $1 billion revenue mark in only ten days and has become the fastest game in the franchise to do so. Modern Warfare 2 came out recently and has taken the gaming world by storm, as seen by more than 1 billion matches and 200 million hours across Xbox, PlayStation, and PC platforms. The latest title is selling much faster than other games like Call of Duty Vanguard, leading the revenue figures by more than 40%.

Furthermore, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, another renowned name, held the title of the fastest Call of Duty game to reach a $1 billion figure in 15 days. But now Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has matched those sales numbers in only ten days, making it the fastest-selling Call of Duty game of all time.

Fans love the first-person shooter from Activision, as it breaks multiple records daily. Recently, Modern Warfare 2 saw the biggest PlayStation Store launch ever for a Call of Duty game and broke the 5-day record set by 2011's Modern Warfare 3 of $775 million. Unsurprisingly, the people at Activision Blizzard are delighted about this record-breaking commercial performance, including the CEO, Bobby Kotick. He said, "I am so proud of the extraordinary efforts from our Call of Duty teams and the records they have achieved with Modern Warfare 2." He also pointed out that the primary reason for Modern Warfare 2's success is the thrill of competition between a massive player base.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 also became the highest-grossing entertainment opening of 2022 and the best-selling opening in franchise history. The company is hoping to continue this run of incredible success with the release of Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 on November 16. First-person shooter fans are eagerly anticipating the release of Warzone 2 and the new anti-cheat measures it will bring. The upcoming Call of Duty game will have mandatory SMS verification for PC gamers to reduce cheating and malicious practices.

Naturally, Johanna Faries, General Manager of Call of Duty, is looking forward to the release of Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 as the company aims to build on the momentum created by Modern Warfare 2's successful launch. Faries recently said in a press release, "As we look ahead to an unprecedented level of support for Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0's launch next week, we are motivated to deliver again for the best player community in the world."

These positive remarks suggest Activision's top management is highly satisfied with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's commercial performance. However, the latest Call of Duty title has received a lukewarm response from critics like GameSpot and IGN. Most critics praised the game for its multiplayer mode, but some had reservations about Modern Warfare 2's campaign mode.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
