One of the most popular mobile games of last year was Call of Duty Mobile, which won numerous end-year awards, including Best Mobile Game at The Game Awards. The developers have continued to support Call of Duty Mobile since launch with regular content updates, with the Season 9: Conquest update being arguably the most significant to date. And looking ahead, Call of Duty Mobile Season 9 has even more to bring to the table.

Call of Duty Mobile Season 9 now has a handy road map that shows players what they can expect throughout the new season. The next big update should come sooner rather than later, as the developers have teased large-scale 10v10 matches, new seasonal challenges, and a special event called Finest Hour that seems to feature characters from the Call of Duty franchise's Zombies game mode.

It's unclear exactly what the Call of Duty Mobile Finest Hour event will entail. It's possible that it will be a direct reference to the Call of Duty: Finest Hour spin-off game that launched in 2004. Alternatively, it could be the first sign that Zombies is coming back to Call of Duty Mobile in some capacity. For the uninitiated, Call of Duty Mobile removed its Zombies mode to focus on adding new multiplayer and battle royale content.

Call of Duty Mobile fans got plenty of new multiplayer and battle royale content with the Season 9 update. This includes a World War 2 spin on the fan favorite Shipment map called Shipment 1944, in addition to the Gunsmith feature that's popular in the latest game in the main series, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. The Call of Duty Mobile battle royale map has also been expanded, plus players can now use the Shield Turret score streak and get their hands on three new guns.

Since its launch, Call of Duty Mobile has basically functioned as a "Best Of" compilation of the Call of Duty games, and so fans can expect future seasons to add even more fan favorite content to the mix. With Call of Duty 2020, rumored to be titled Black Ops Cold War, on the horizon, perhaps future Call of Duty Mobile updates will focus on adding more content from Treyarch's Black Ops sub-series.

Then again, Call of Duty mobile already has a significant amount of Black Ops content, having featured its special modes like Gun Game and launching with one of its most popular maps, Nuketown. Regardless of what the content entails, though, franchise fans can expect Call of Duty Mobile to add plenty more content in Season 9 and beyond.

Call of Duty Mobile is out now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
