The evergrowing nature of Call of Duty Mobile leads to constant additions of new maps, modes, and weapons. A new weapon rarity is set to arrive to Call of Duty Mobile soon, and the first weapon to have the special rarity attached to it will be the Fennec SMG.

The quick-killing Fennec submachine gun will not be getting any stronger through its Mythic rarity, which should come as a relief to many players that have been insta-killed by the weapon. Instead, the Mythic rarity releasing November 6 will make the weapon more visually appealing via evolving cosmetics. Taking the same idea as reactive camo from Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, the Fennec will change its appearance as a match goes on.

While it is unconfirmed how the Fennec will see its colors change, eliminations seem likely given the similarities to Black Ops 4 camo and the cosmetic pumpkin heads in Modern Warfare. Call of Duty Mobile’s official Twitter account posted a highlight video of the Mythic weapon, which sees different attachments equipped to the weapon as its colors swap between orange, red, and blue. The weapon’s look is a bit more stylish than the camouflage options that currently exist within CoD Mobile, and the Mythic weapon will likely be sought after by fans of the regular Fennec.

In a community update post on Reddit that detailed CoD Mobile’s Undead Fog event, Mythic rarity items were confirmed to extend beyond the Fennec. With the “brand-new rarity level all about badass cosmetics,” there are likely to be many more Mythic items on the way for the mobile FPS. The Call of Duty Mobile team also confirmed that Mythic rarity would extend beyond weapons, so battle royale vehicles and equipment may see Mythic variants as well.

One candidate for a Mythic variant is the overpowered NA-45 sniper rifle, as the CoD Mobile gun was removed from competitive play the day it released. While the weapon will likely be nerfed and made legal for competitive players soon, a Mythic variant to commemorate its launch state could be a fun nod. Regardless, it is worth noting that how exactly the Fennec can be acquired remains unclear. Random loot crates, a standalone purchase, or some form of in-game challenge are all possibilities.

Regardless of how players go about acquiring the Mythic weapon this Friday, its new rarity should shake things up in Call of Duty Mobile. With over 300 million downloads of CoD Mobile happening since its release, it is safe to say that many will be trying to acquire the special new Fennec.

Call of Duty Mobile is available now on Android and iOS devices.
