Call of Duty: Mobile has made a surprise appearance today on Apple's App Store, making it available for download on all iOS devices. This makes iPhone and iPad users the first to be able to get a head start on ahead of the planned October 1st release date.

In an announcement on September 18th, Activision stated in a blog post that Call of Duty: Mobile would release to Android and iOS on October 1st. The mobile title is supposed to include content from a host of Call of Duty installments, including the Modern Warfare and Black Ops in a first-person experience.

Along with the content from previous games in the series, one of the most notable game modes returning for Call of Duty: Mobile is the extremely popular Battle Royale mode. This fast paced, first-person experience brings the AAA quality from the Call of Duty series to a free to play mobile title. All of this can be experienced immediately by iOS users and on October 1st for Android users.

Included with the content is a number of customization options available thanks to the versatility of mobile devices, such as playing with both controller support as well as playing Call of Duty Mobile with a mouse and keyboard. All of this comes together to make one of the best gaming experiences currently available on mobile. So, iOS users will be happy to have an extra day to gain a leg up against the competition, as they log in those early hours where the learning curve really takes off.

The early release on Apple is certain to spark some sort of debate between iOS and Android users, not that it takes much to spark that debate again. Regardless, players on all platforms are going to be excited to get their hands on the new game when it fully releases on October 1st. With content like Battle Royale and maps like Nuketown coming to mobile devices, it may be one of the best Call of Duty titles around, which is saying a lot considering the upcoming Modern Warfare release.

Although, this early release might be less of an intended special for iOS devices and nothing more than a simple mistake on the part of Activision, or Apple's App Store. Regardless, that shouldn't speak to the quality of the game as players begin enjoying in the coming days.
