Call of Duty Mobile has a large playerbase, but the amount of time those players are spending with the game is apparently enormous. A new report says Call of Duty Mobile players have reached one billion hours played monthly at the game's peak activity.

Such a milestone would be impressive if it were to occur across a game’s entire lifespan, so CoD Mobile reaching those numbers in only one month shows just how successful the game has been for Activision. With a content-filled Call of Duty Mobile Season 11 recently having its details leaked, the game's playerbase is likely to grow larger with time. The game started off strong according to analytical firm App Annie, with CoD Mobile reaching 100 million downloads nearly as fast as Pokemon GO, but much faster than both PUBG and Fortnite.

Call of Duty Mobile is not the only game in its series to pass milestones recently, as the alpha for Black Ops Cold War broke records of its own as the most-downloaded PS4 alpha or beta in series history. App Annie highlights that the game has been installed 250 million times since launch, and suggests the 46 million players who have pre-registered in China were a large contributor to the hours played. The series' large console audience also helped raise interest in the game. App Annie said the game ranked #1 in downloads for core mobile games in the US as well, with Android phones being the primary source of players.

Activision Vice President of Mobile Chris Plummer told App Annie, “We’ve committed ourselves to constantly bringing fresh new content” and that “we’re only getting started.” The comments regarding new content are certainly believable given the recent teases for Season 11. With the anniversary of CoD Mobile included in the next season of content, players can expect a new scorestreak and additional maps for the popular mobile game.

Season 11 in Call of Duty Mobile will also include new weapons. The season 11 weapons coming to CoD Mobile will come from multiple different categories according to the game’s developers, meaning that players will have a few different kinds of guns to try out when the update arrives. Players unlocking all attachments for the new weapons should only add to the number of hours seen for CoD Mobile thus far.

Call of Duty has clearly proved to be a success on mobile platforms, as one billion hours played in a single month is an impressive achievement. With leaks suggesting Call of Duty: Warzone might coming to mobile devices soon, even more records could be broken by the franchise.

Call of Duty Mobile is available now on Android and iOS mobile devices.
