Today Activision and Infinity Ward released an update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare that added new playlists like 'Cabin Fever,' a joking play on the coronavirus pandemic that has shut down schools and many businesses. These changes were announced as part of the April 20 Call of Duty franchise-wide briefing which included a Crescent Moon event also starting today in Call of Duty: Mobile.

The 2020 Crescent Moon event is being headlined by a special skin available for Leni "Zero" Vogel, a German hacking Specialist introduced to the series in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's Operation Absolute Zero in 2018. This alternative look is described as the "Sultana skin," adorned with gold and "fit for a battle royale and a Multiplayer skirmish or two." Alongside it are six other Crescent Moon items: A parachute, wingsuit, backpack, frag grenade, RUS-79U rifle, and flashbang grenade.

These limited-time items are not the only things currently appearing in Call of Duty: Mobile according to the Activision Games Blog. There is also a Free-For-All game mode available until April 23, another new game mode called Gun Game Team Fight, and a special Jade camo skin available for the AK-47 by completing the Tenacity Rewarded challenge.

The Games Blog also talks about weekly and daily challenges available for players alongside new content arriving as part of the Steel Legion season of content. With a lot of that content in the mobile game's fifth season focusing on the Call of Duty: Black Ops series, it only makes sense that the special Crescent Moon event would likewise concentrate on a character like Zero.

Of course there were also updates for all other games across Activision's currently running titles in the first-person shooter franchise, including new game modes in Black Ops 4. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and the battle royale Call of Duty: Warzone received a new multiplayer Operator named Ronin, alongside a bundle that offers two legendary weapons and a number of cosmetics.

It's frankly dizzying to imagine how the series can handle juggling so many disparate titles at once, even with different developers focusing on each. All of these games don't even account for the recently released Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered or the rumored Modern Warfare 3 remaster, and with all that going on it's impressive to see the mobile spin-off still get some love.

Call of Duty Mobile is out now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
