Call of Duty has spread itself across more than just multiple consoles recently. Call of Duty: Warzone expanded the series into a new genre, and while some Call of Duty Warzone bug fixes are still being worked on, it has been adopted as the Battle Royale game of choice by many players.

Similarly, Call of Duty Mobile brought the series into the world of mobile games. While a AAA shooter title transitioning to a mobile game seems unlikely, Call of Duty Mobile has proven very popular. With its fourth season wrapping up, a new mode was recently announced for its fifth season, a mode that focuses on teamwork.

The new mode is called Clan Wars. To participate, players must first form a clan. As of this article, the minimum number of players required to form a clan is not known. After forming a clan, said clan must compete against other clans in weekly competitions. Each competition will be to capture a clan point, with multiple clans going after the same one all at once. Players will have to work together well and get to know their opponents. Now that many players have been banned from Call of Duty Mobile for toxic behavior, perhaps that is more of a possibility.

Each weekly competition is like a mini-season, and once the week is done, clans will be matched up against an entire stable of enemy clans to fight. The whole event lasts on a bi-seasonal schedule, complete with leaderboards to climb that reset at the end of the season. The leaderboards also offer rewards for those who can climb them. Points and currency are given out for both individual and clan success, so newer players making common Call of Duty Mobile mistakes can float with their team somewhat.

New prizes will also be rolled out alongside Clan Mode, some of which can only be bought using clan currency or by earning clan points. Foremost among these is a new legendary character: Ronin. There's a lot to grab, so there's plenty to motivate players, as new legendary characters are wont to do.

This marks the latest step in Call of Duty Mobile's hot streak when it comes to attracting players. So far the game has seen widespread approval, even from content creators like Dr. Disrespect. Whether Clan Wars will keep the game riding high or prove to be a misstep, only time will tell.

Call of Duty Mobile is available on Android and iOS devices.
