Call of Duty Mobile is a massive game, constantly growing with fresh maps and modes. As such, some pieces of Call of Duty Mobile content are often cycled in and out of the game as time goes on, with this mentality clearly applying to the game’s battle royale playlists as well.

Call of Duty Mobile’s second season has officially begun, bringing heaps of new content to the popular FPS. All the additions, removals, and plans for the game were detailed further inside the most recent community update for the game. Among the most interesting changes are the ones being made to the battle royale mode. While Call of Duty Mobile’s main battle royle map is staying as is, its secondary map will no longer be kept in the rotation permanently.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s Blackout mode introduced Alcatraz as a small-scale battle royale map, with the location proving to be a popular alternative from the usual battle royale format. As such, it returned as Rebirth Island in Call of Duty: Warzone while also appearing in Call of Duty Mobile. Though Alcatraz has proven popular in the past, it will no longer be active 24/7. This is due to the player interest in the map being far lower than traditional battle royale gameplay in recent weeks.

Fortunately, Alcatraz will still be brought back to the game regularly, with its return date confirmed for April 9. Further, TiMi Studios will make the map permanent once again if players regain interest and play it often, providing fans of Alcatraz with a bit of hope. A new Truck vehicle type was also mentioned in the update, and it will hold up to six players at one time. Players can also use skills and fire weapons from the Cargo Bed of the truck, giving it a bit more functionality apart from just being a method of transport.

Finally, the new mode Tank Battle was highlighted further, with TiMi Studios teasing a special video to explain how the game mode works. Described as being “unlike anything” seen for the game thus far, and it will see players collecting 5 pieces of scrap to build their own tanks. Several anti-tank weapons will be found on the map as well, while a welding tool will be added for tank repair. Three types of tanks will be buildable, adding to the depth of the mode. Tank Battle will be available from March 19 to March 25.

Until Tank Battle arrives, players can enjoy battle royale’s Blitz Mode, as it will be active until March 18. While the new content certainly sounds interesting, some fans may be understandably bummed to see the Alcatraz map exiting the rotation — though at least they do know when it will be coming pack.

Call of Duty Mobile is available now on Android and iOS mobile devices.
