According to CDL player Lewis Todd, also known as "LewTee," the CDL has been discussing pre-made classes for awhile. These classes would be designed by pro players and would use weapons, perks, and equipment that the pros and league officials can agree are not overpowered. The rumor is that pre-made classes could eliminate the need for pros to restrict weapons and items in future Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War CDL events.
As Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War adds to the number of CDL level games, the Gentlemen's Agreements continue to grow every year. As more rules are added, pro players continue to call for more and more votes, which has caught the attention of the CDL. In an effort to stop future player-made restrictions, CDL seems to be intending on implementing pre-made classes. These classes would be made by pro players and then voted on, meeting a specific list of restrictions set by the CDL. Then players would use them in competitive environments, and fans could copy the classes easily without navigating the CDL and GA rule sets.
While this change has not been officially made, the rumor has been backed by the COD Gamepedia Twitter feed. On Twitter, it stated that custom Call of Duty classes has been planned for some time, it was simply waiting for further news.
So far, reception to the idea has been positive among the fan community. If properly implemented, both Call of Duty pros and viewers would benefit without needing to impose future restrictions.
It will be some time before these rules are officially implemented. The CDL will need to explore all possibilities before amending their ruleset, and the pros will no doubt voice their opinions in the meantime. Still, competitive Call of Duty fans will be happy to see a more streamlined process without the continuous voting and arguing that often revolves around pro loadout decisions.
