For the players of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, bugs and glitches have been a consistent issue for the massive popular shooter. This problem unfortunately extends to the PC platform where hackers and cheaters have seemingly been an unsolvable issue for Infinity Ward. While this week's playlist update went without a hitch, players have begun to report a brand new issue where invisible enemies have been ruining games for players.
The reports began appearing online through social media channels but the issue really seemed to take hold when a video of the event was posted online. A video on the Call of Duty: Warzone subReddit showed a player in the airfield opening chests. He's soon shot from behind but manages to take cover and prepare for the approaching player. Out of the blue, the red hit markers suddenly appear again and the player is quickly eliminated.
What's odd is that from the eliminated player's perspective, there was no one there. However, while looking at the killcam, the enemy player is clearly visible right behind the player and even standing in the same room as them picking up an easy kill.
Comments under the post ranged from sympathetic to disgust over how many issues the game has seen. Others appeared to be unsure as to whether or not this was simply a bug or someone hacking the game, a common problem in Warzone right now. The general consensus appears to be that this is simply a bug, likely due to HDDs taking longer than expected to render/load in player models. Whatever the case, Infinity Ward has yet to comment on the problem or add it to the known issues Trello board.
The line between what is a hack or a bug can be a fine one at times. While some hacks can be a bit easier to spot then others, one player has developed a system which makes it much easier to identify a player using wallhacks. Redditor KieronTheMule advised players to hide in a hidden spot off of the main sections of a map. In this case, they hid away from the game objective off the side of a map, and sure enough, an enemy player ran straight to them and gunned them down. It's a little odd that a player was able to move away from the objective and immediately head to their hidden location and take them out.
