Infinity Ward communications director Eric Monacelli confirms that Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will have a Zombies Mode, and that PS4 owners get first dibs on DLC.
While the mode used to be exclusive to the Treyarch-developed games in the series, it turns out that Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare from Infinity Ward will have a Zombies Mode. This was announced by Eric Monacelli, the studio's communications director, though no footage of Zombies as it will appear in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is available at this time.
Monacelli did elaborate a little bit on what fans can expect from Zombies Mode in Infinite Warfare, however. He stated that it will feature a new storyline, new gameplay mechanics, and new features never that weren't available in Black Ops III's Zombies Mode or any other previous iterations of Zombies. More information on Infinite Warfare's Zombies Mode will be revealed at a later date.
It's possible that Infinite Warfare's Zombies Mode will have a proper unveiling at E3 2016. While Activision won't be at E3 this year, we do know that Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will still have a presence at the show. Smart money says that the game will be shown off during Sony's E3 2016 press conference, considering the strong relationship between Activision and Sony these past couple of years.
That strong relationship led to Black Ops III's DLC being timed-exclusive to PS4, and that will be the case with Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare's DLC as well. Monacelli confirmed as much, so PS4 owners can expect expansions for the new game 30 days sooner than those playing on PC or Xbox One.
Like with Zombies Mode, fans are going to have to wait a little bit longer for more details on Infinite Warfare's DLC plans. However, based on the franchise's history, we can guess that expansions for Infinite Warfare will likely consist of a few multiplayer maps, and a new Zombies map.
In the meantime, it will be interesting to see how Zombies plays in Infinite Warfare. As the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare trailer revealed, the game has a futuristic setting, complete with soldiers outfitted with mechanical suits that look similar to the gear worn by characters in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. Perhaps this means that Zombies in Infinite Warfare will play more like Exo Zombies from Advanced Warfare, as opposed to the more traditional take on Zombies seen in the Treyarch games.
With the reveal of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare now complete, hopefully fans don't have to wait too long for Activision and Infinity Ward to elaborate on the game's various features, such as Zombies Mode. With E3 2016 right around the corner, Call of Duty fans should pay close attention for details on Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare's Zombies Mode at the event.
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will be available on November 4th for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
