‘Call of Duty: Ghosts’ Trailer Highlights Updates to ‘Clans’ System

Despite what gamers may or may not think, Call of Duty: Ghosts is a big step forward for the franchise. From improved visuals, to a more refined multiplayer, to an entirely new campaign, Call of Duty: Ghosts gives fans plenty of reasons to be excited.

One of those improvements for this year’s iteration involves a new Clans system, which gives groups of players even more ways to interact, coordinate, and play online. The trailer above gives a better look at what’s new for Clans, including a completely new meta game on the Call of Duty app.

While Call of Duty does cater to the lone wolf more so than a game like Battlefield, there are still incentives for players to group together. And with the Clans system, staying together and coordinating matches is now easier than ever.

Through the Call of Duty app, Clan leaders will be able to customize their clan’s insignia, send message to clan members, and even rally the troops, so to speak. Basically, they can send out a message telling clan members to hop online for some Call of Duty: Ghosts multiplayer action.

The Call of Duty app also keeps clan members up to date on their ranking in the Clan Wars meta game, which pits groups of clans up against each other in two-week intervals. By winning matches in a variety of game modes, a clan can take control of specific points on the Clan Wars map, and whichever clan controls the most points and earns some special rewards.

Clans aren’t restricted to a single platform either; players will be able to join a single clan regardless of whether they are playing Ghosts on PC, PS3, Xbox 360, Xbox One, or PS4. That doesn’t mean they can participate in Clan vs. Clan matches, though, only that they can call themselves a member of the same clan.

Those gamers who want to get in on the Clans action early can register their clan today and reserve their clan name for Call of Duty: Ghosts. Early registration is open from now until October 25th.
