'Call of Duty Elite - Improve' Trailer Helps Players Step Up Their Game

Call of Duty Elite Improve Trailer

With the first detailed trailer for Call of Duty Elite, focused on the 'Compete' component of the service, developer Beachhead Studio walked players through the various ways in which they will be able to participate in tournaments and daily contests to earn real life and in-game prizes. But Compete is only one facet of the three phase Call of Duty Elite service, so it was high time they talked about a new area, ‘Improve.’

Improve is exactly what players might assume, a set of tools for them to improve their multiplayer “game.” Call of Duty has always come under fire for being too competitive and stat-driven, and that’s not going to change.

What is going to change is how players can look back on their matches, or even prepare for their matches, in order to do better the next time around. Included as part of a Elite is everything from detailed overhead views of Modern Warfare 3 and Black Opsmultiplayer maps to the specific loadouts your enemies were carrying when they killed you. All of these tools should help players not only improve, but understand what works and what doesn’t work in multiplayer matches.

To hear a little bit more about the ‘Improve’ side of the service, check out the trailer below:

As you can see, Call of Duty Elite doesn’t just want players to have to study maps and weapon guides in order to improve, it wants to give them a better understanding through helpful visual learning tools. For example, if a player isn’t sure what the best route is for capturing the flag, or planting the bomb, Elite will provide them with an optimum path that is the quickest to success.

Obviously, this section of Elite isn’t going to be for everybody, but with Call of Duty already having developed a serious online following, there are going to be plenty of gamers who have already spent years refining their gameplay style and discovering what works for them. But for those players who are new to Call of Duty, perhaps they’re just jumping into Modern Warfare 3 for the first time, they will find something pretty unique, and extremely helpful.

What do you think of the features that are included as the ‘Improve’ section of Call of Duty Elite? How important is a map walkthrough and weapon guide to multiplayer success?

Call of Duty Elite launches alongside Modern Warfare 3 on November 8, 2011 for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.
