Even though the Call of Duty franchise has had a competitive scene since 2013, it wasn't until the release of Call of Duty Warzone that fans really took an interest in it. And that's because Call of Duty Warzone introduced the franchise to a new set of features that revamped the way gamers played. This new Call of Duty Battle Royale would let players test their survival skills on a huge map filled with buildings and other unique landmarks.

Call of Duty Warzone also introduced the gaming community to a new form of playstyle heavily focused on quick movements. One of the most divisive movements ever discovered was that of "slide canceling," which would make a player move quicker than intended. With Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Infinity Ward had finally decided to fix it, but it didn't take long for players to discover a new slide-canceling movement. Here's how to execute the maneuver.

Change In-game Settings

Just as in Call of Duty Warzone, players who want to slide cancel need to change a few settings in their game. First, go into Settings and then select their input (Keyboard & Mouse or Controller). Once inside that menu, players should scroll down to the "Gameplay" section and change the Weapon Mount Activation to "Double-Tap ADS." Then, players should head to the Advanced settings, located at the top of the input menu.

Scroll down to the section "Movement Behavior" and turn off "Grounded Mantle" and "Automatic Grounded Mantle." Once completed, players will be ready to test out the new slide canceling movement, preferably with an SMG like the MP5 (Lachmann Sub).

Slide Canceling Movement

To execute the slide cancel movement, players will need to perform the following steps:

  • Activate Tactical Sprint
  • Press the Slide Button
  • While Sliding, Double Tap ADS
  • Press Jump

Of course, players will need to complete these steps quickly if they want to slide cancel successfully. Players could enable Automatic Tactical Sprint to make things smoother, but this isn't a requirement.

As players will notice, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 slide cancel is much slower than Warzone's or Vanguard's slide cancel. So, while slide cancel may be helpful in some situations, players should avoid doing it during a firefight as it's slower than Tac Sprinting. Perhaps in Warzone 2, players will find more uses for it, but as of now its more of a liability than an advantage in small multiplayer maps.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is available October 28th on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
