Treyarch needs to stop toying with us. While many gamers are anticipating all of the fantastic new features and the similarly great familiar features of Call of Duty: Black Ops, there is one aspect of the game that they want to have a definitive answer on: Zombies. In a posting on GameStop’s page for the strategy guide on Black Ops, is a description for coverage of many modes including a Zombie Mode.

While there has been no confirmation from publisher Activision regarding the Zombie mode, many hints have been dropped to suggest that its existence should be expected. The question isn’t really whether or not Zombies will be in Black Ops but in what capacity we will see them.

First, came word of the Zombie Map Pack that led gamers to believe that the only facet of Black Ops that would have some vague semblance of Zombies would be the locales in which they battled on the multiplayer. Then, came a small glance at a start screen that might have teased the potential for not Nazi Zombies but Communist Zombies.

Whether Zombies will make an appearance is all but confirmed by various sources, yet Treyarch remains mum about the mode. Could this be there way of focusing all of their energy into promoting Wager Match or is it one of the many surprises that Black Ops has yet to deliver to gamers? If I were a betting man I would assume that not only are Zombies in the game but based on what Treyarch is trying to do with the franchise this mode will not just be a retread of World at War’s mode.

With the game’s release over a month away, we still have plenty of time to get completely absorbed in Black Ops' marketing. While other games are sure to dominate the consoles, in the weeks leading up to Black Ops’ release there is sure to be only one title on many gamers’ minds.

Zombies have been teased for so long they are an almost inevitability. How do you want to see your Zombies in Black Ops?

Call of Duty: Black Ops releases for the PC, Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii on November 9th.
