The First Strike Map Pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops is due out February 1st, and the people at Treyarch have decided to stop with the talk and give us an actual look at what millions of gamers will soon be dropping $15 bucks on. As detailed in a previous post, First Strike will offer gamers four new stages: Kowloon, Discovery, Berlin Wall, and Stadium in addition to a new zombie level called Ascension.
Three out of the four levels in the new pack offer a little bit of player interactivity. Kowloon, which takes place on the roof tops of Hong Kong, gives players the option of using Zip Lines to transport from point A to B. This gives players fast transportation, but makes them defenseless against incoming fire. Discovery, another snow level for the game, is divided in two, each part only connected by a bridge that can be made to collapse with the use of explosives.
Berlin Wall has an wide area placed in the middle of the map that the developers call No Man’s Land. This area offers a faster route to other end of the map, but has the huge drawback of being surrounded by automatic turrets. Stadium comes in as one of the games smaller multi-player map packs. Similar to Black Ops’ Nuketown map, Stadium will most likely become a favorite for those who are fans of in-your-face combat with little room to escape and hide.
Take a look at the new multi-player maps in action:
Although this trailer is filled with much “awesomeness,” it does have two drawbacks. One, this map pack releases exclusively for Xbox 360 gamers first, with no mention of a date when PC and PS3 owners can join in on the fun. Two, no scenes are shown of the Ascension zombie level. Hopefully, in the new zombie map we won’t be forced to listen to cheesy lines by JFK and friends. I guess that Treyarch still needs to keep some aspects of the map pack a mystery.
Are you guys tired of the old (maps) and excited for the new?
