Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 3 Reloaded has arrived, and one of its biggest additions has already been disabled. Due to some major issues related to crashing and the mode’s HUD, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fans can no longer play Multi-Team Elimination.

The mode was added as part of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s midseason update, and fans had been particularly excited for the game mode. Focusing on ten teams of four, the mode sees players trying to be the last team standing. Respawns are limited and players start with nothing other than a restricted loadout, meaning that they must scavenge for all their armor and scorestreaks. The 40-player game mode would also feature an exfil helicopter in the final safe zone, giving players a chance to win without fighting.

Sounding like a small-scale version of the Blackout battle royale mode with a few extra twists, players were undoubtedly excited to see what the mode was like. Unfortunately, they did not even get a full day of playtime with the game mode, as Treyarch announced today that it is pulling it from the map rotation. While it did promise that the removal is only temporary, the studio did not specify what the “new issues” caused by the game mode were.

However, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fans have detailed the problems on Reddit, and they certainly seem to be major. As highlighted by Redditor DewdsDeMIYT, several platforms were experiencing major crashes while playing the new Multi-Team content. On PS5, pulling up the map instantly crashes the game, while PS4 fans are reporting a choppy experience with freezes and crashes. On PC, entire diagnostic tests are being forced, confirming that there are some major issues with the game mode’s stability.

Outside of some major new Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War bugs, there seem to be some heavy criticisms of the mode itself. Compiled by Redditor coldmoney21, these issues include the lack of a pre-game lobby, as players are forced to look at an endless load screen until a match is full of players. The scoreboard also shows up instead of the map once the touchpad is pressed, while no collapse indicator makes a battle royale-like mode cumbersome. Players also would like to see teams spawning in with no weapons.

With the storm itself also being too hard to see, and players hoping to see it brightened up like in the Zombies Onslaught mode, there are clearly some things that need work. Still, the community seems optimistic on the mode once bug fixes and big changes are made, and it could eventually be a popular option in multiplayer.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
