Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies features the iconic Hellhound enemy that has been with the mode for over a decade, though one player has seen the dogs’ fire fading. In its place are rainbows, with the odd bug leaving Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fans stunned.

Hellhounds were introduced all the way back in 2008’s Call of Duty: World at War, making their debut in the DLC map Shi No Numa. Appearing in a majority of the Aether story, the dogs entered into the Dark Aether universe via Firebase Z. Boasting a new ability that allows them to explode and leave fire behind after they are killed, the special enemies are tougher than they have ever been. However, it seems like there are some bugs tied to the dogs’ latest appearance.

When playing a match of Outbreak, Reddit user SyedDodoRex found a pack of rainbow-colored dogs near the gas station on Golova. While the dogs exploded properly when killed, the flame on the dogs themselves was clearly bugged. The rainbow colors only became more vibrant as the dogs were filled with rounds from the PPSH, and with long bars also seen floating above the dogs, it is clear this is a texture bug as opposed to an easter egg of some kind.

According to Redditor CollegeFootballDojo, this glitch had happened to them as well. In their case, though, it happened to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s Mimics, with the terrifying creatures being covered in the buggy rainbow colors. The user believes that the glitch is even funnier on this enemy type, which is understandable due to their size. However, it seems like not everyone is laughing at the glitch, with Reddit users pointing out that it can be “very troublesome” when it happens. Apparently, if this does occur, more textures that just the Hellhounds can be bugged.

In particular, Reddit user x678-Mx points out that the bug makes it impossible to see the screen of the trial machine. This means that players will be unable to tell if the challenge is for a normal reward or if it has a piece of intel attached. While this is not a game-breaking issue for most players, it is frustrating for those that are only interested in using the trial machine to access these hidden bits of lore. After all, they could be wasting 500 points hoping for an intel trial, only to receive a basic reward trial instead.

As of now, Treyarch has not responded to the post, so it is unclear when a fix will be made. Until then, Zombies fans may want to keep an eye out for rainbow Hellhounds and Mimics as they progress through Outbreak’s world tiers.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
