Despite mostly being comprised of reused maps from the multi-team modes in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Outbreak has become a massive success for Treyarch. The concept of open world Zombies works surprisingly well, and the developer has done a solid job of using updates to expand on the Outbreak experience in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.
When completing objectives in Outbreak and looting each region, players will find a staggering amount of intel. With Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies’ intel doing a lot of the legwork for the Dark Aether story, though, it is worth collecting and listening to. While there are now over 200 intel pieces hidden in Outbreak, Season 5 only adds a few more items to collect. Their locations are as follows.
Requiem Intel
With the mystery around the Requiem director quickly picking up steam, intel regarding the faction should be worth looking at closely until the next Survival map arrives. Unfortunately, no new audio logs are available for Requiem this Season, as Sam’s logs hold all the exciting teasers.
- Requiem Documents: As always, these are acquired by killing special Zombies or opening golden chests. Players can get 2-3 per game, and they will all be easily noticeable since they show up as a yellow item drop.
- Requiem Artifact 1 - Collateral: Near one of the larger Oil Tanks, players can see a white wall in front of them (a ramp is on the other side). If players walk up to the indent in this wall, which holds a yellow pipe, they will be able to pick up an Aetherium Rocket Model.
- Requiem Artifact 2 - Collateral: At the Helipad location, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War players can head down the stairs that take them away from the platform. Raptor One’s Helmet can be found up against some metal supports after players have gone down the steps and looked to their right.
- Requiem Artifact 3 - Collateral: At the Crater, players can stand next to the crashed satellite and look directly in front of them. On the very top of the multi-layered Drapery building is a Frenzied Guard canister. Players can climb to the top of the building with ease to collect it.
Omega Intel
Following Kravchenko’s failure to take out Requiem’s operatives in the Mauer Der Toten main quest, he will surely be frustrated with that defeat. This moment could also result in him being pulled away from Omega, something that would make sense considering that he dies in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2’s campaign. Regardless, the Omega intel is as follows.
- Omega Documents: Like with the other documents, these are dropped from mini bosses and golden chests. Players can get between two and three every game.
- Omega Artifact 1 - Collateral: At the Cliffs West location, players will be able to walk between two tall cliffs. In the center, and up against the right rock, a Boost Module Model can be found.
- Omega Artifact 2 - Collateral: As players exit the Village Dunes location, they will come across a pile of large red pipes that sit on the desert floor. Inside one of these pipes is a Mimic tentacle.
- Omega Artifact 3 - Collateral: At the Oil Rig area where Pack-A-Punch is found, players can head below the white square building that sits on top of a platform. The orange wall below the building house Valentina’s ID badge, as it is propped up inside the wall's raised sections.
Maxis Intel
With Samantha Maxis being the most interesting character in the new Zombies storyline, it is hardly a surprise that she gets the best intel of the Season. Fortunately, it is just as easy to find as the rest, as it can all he collected from Season 5’s Collateral Region.
- Maxis Documents: These are the same as with Requiem and Omega. A few will drop randomly each game from golden chests or mini bosses.
- Maxis Audio Log 1 - Collateral: At the Facility location, players will walk up some steps into a square building (a white cylindrical structure stands behind the correct building). In the Pump Room, on the back shelf, players can find the audio log.
- Maxis Audio Log 2 - Collateral: At the Village Dunes location, players will be able to find a building with a staircase that leads up to a ladder. On top of this building is a jump pad spawn point. If players walk into the second-floor room, turn around, and look to the left of the door, they will find the audio log on a table.
- Maxis Audio Log 3 - Collateral: The last audio log tied to Samantha Maxis is found outside of the Village Dunes. Specifically, it is in the large Warehouse building. If players enter the back room with containers in the center (blue tarp will be on top of them), they can find this log in the rafters. They can then shoot it down from the ceiling and pick it up.
Dark Aether Intel
As always, the Dark Aether intel sets up the looming threat inside the other dimension. With The Forsaken confirmed to be on the way soon, players can expect to learn more about the leader of the undead.
- Dark Aether Audio Log And Radio: These are grabbed by completing trials. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War players will know the ones, as they will be specially marked. With only two items to get from the machine, players can get them both in one match.
- Dark Aether Artifact 1 - Collateral: At the Facility West location, players will find a small building labeled Hazard. A yellow ladder will take players to the top of it, but the item they want is inside. On the floor next to some white barrels, an empty Deadshot Daiquiri can is available.
- Dark Aether Artifact 2 - Collateral: At the Cliffs section, which is found at the top North portion of the map, players can find a Demented Echo head. It is on the sandy desert floor and propped up against one of these cliffs. The correct cliff is to the right of the one that holds an ammo crate.
As always, Zombies Onslaught players can get some PlayStation exclusive intel this Season, with the three items dropped by elite Zombies in the new map Echelon.
