Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War marked the first time in the series where a proper intel system was provided for Zombies players. Allowing fans of the Zombies storyline to listen to audio logs and read lore-heavy files in the main menu, the system gives players the chance to study up on the mode’s narrative without leading a zombie around the map.

New intel was added to Zombies as part of the first season of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, giving players more collectibles to gather. Just like the preseason intel, there are a few different ways that the items can be gathered.

Gathering More Audio Logs

A few new audio logs have been added to the Die Maschine Zombies map, with players needing to search certain areas of the wintery location to get the extra recordings. Like with previous intel, holding down the reload button over the items will instantly add them to the player’s collection, so fans can only collect intel from the areas once. The locations are as follows:

  • The first piece of intel is an Omega Audio log, and it can be found in the “bedroom” of Nacht Der Untoten, resting on a table beneath a chalkboard. It is across from the Stamin-Up perk.
  • The second piece of intel is found in the crash site area and is also an Omega recording. Players can get this drop by running through the crashed plane, finding it laying against a rock in the corner of the map. It is to the far right of the Jugger-Nog machine.
  • The third audio log is tied to the Requiem group, and sees players entering the Medical Bay. At the end of the room above Speed Cola, where players go for the spectral diary, the log can be found resting on a medical cabinet. It is directly to the right of one of the cassette tapes that activate the Easter egg song.
  • The fourth log sees players grabbing a Requiem recording from the Deadshot Daiquiri alcove. The log sits on a table to the right of the perk and to the left of the area where players put the gas tank for the Nova 5 D.I.E. upgrade.

With each of these audio logs being found near one of the Call of Duty Zombies perks, players should have no trouble tracking them all down.

Unlocking The Other Forms Of Season 1 Intel

Players can acquire the rest of the Season 1 intel by doing many of the same things that they did in the preseason. There are four new documents that can be acquired by killing Megatons, with the mini bosses having a random chance to drop a document after a player finishes them off. Only one document can be acquired per game, meaning that players will need to search Megaton loot drops during four different matches.

If the intel was dropped, it will be hard to miss, with the piece of paper highlighted in yellow. PlayStation users can get Zombies intel from the exclusive Onslaught mode too, with Megatons dropping three bonus documents on each of the Season 1 maps.

Returning Call of Duty Zombies character Samantha Maxis offers three new transmissions for players to collect, with one able to be obtained each game via a radio station near Quick Revive. Ten new Dark Aether intel can be acquired by completing challenges in the map’s trial room, with players able to secure three of the intel documents each match. This intel can be acquired in the new Jingle Hells playlist as well, meaning that players will not be missing out on any Season 1 collectibles while enjoying the holiday festivities.

Unfortunately, even after collecting all the preseason intel and these Season 1 items, the Die Maschine Report Mastery calling card will not be unlocked. One piece of intel has not yet been made available, meaning that players will need to wait for Treyarch to add the final piece before they can complete their collection. Likely coming in the middle of the season to hype up the Season 2 arrival of the next Zombies map, players will have to stay patient as they wait for this last shred of intel to arrive.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
