Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has improved significantly over the past year, though with the launch of Call of Duty: Vanguard imminent, many will soon be leaving the game behind. However, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fans on PC and Xbox may want to try out Zombies Onslaught before they do.

Zombies Onslaught is a solid mode that has only gotten better with time. In Onslaught, two players follow an orb around a multiplayer map of their choosing. Once the orb stops, players will have to kill a certain number of undead to charge it back up, and every few waves an elite enemy will spawn in. With players stuck in a tight space and relying on random drops for their upgrades, the mode can certainly be challenging.

While it is certainly not at the same level of a proper round-based map like Forsaken, the mode does serve as a nice change of pace for those that are burnt out on Survival. Treyarch has also kept Onslaught fresh with limited time modes, which include a version with a sped-up orb and one where the players’ weapons are constantly changing. Onslaught Containment is particularly fun, as it takes place on the game’s Gunfight maps and ensures a fast-paced experience. Fortunately, Containment is now available for PC and Xbox fans as well.

With Onslaught content having been added regularly since release, PC and Xbox players will be able to enjoy the mode on an impressive 23 maps. Each map brings exclusive Zombies intel for those that are invested in the Dark Aether story, with each set focusing on the survivors of the map where it is found. While this is not crucial to understanding the main story, reading about the Menendez Cartel’s reaction to zombies or characters that survived in Rush’s paintball arena is certainly interesting.

As of now, it is unclear if the extra Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War trophies will be brought over as achievements for PC and Xbox users. If they are, players will have three new objectives to complete. One is called “Overpowered,” and players need to kill a mini boss with a scorestreak. Another is called “World Traveler,” and sees players needing to kill an Elite in seven maps. Finally, there is “Go for Gold!,” which asks players to get a Gold Chalice (reach wave 25) in seven different matches.

While the addition of Zombies Onslaught and Onslaught Containment may be too little too late for some Xbox and PC fans, others should be happy to see the mode become available. With so much content in Onslaught now, players on the other platforms can experience the best version of the mode.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
