While Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies makes some significant changes to the Survival mode’s formula, one thing has remained the same. Thus far, all the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies maps have had a secret song — and that does not change in Mauer Der Toten.

Fortunately, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War players will not have a hard time turning on the music in the new map. Just like the previous two songs, players need to collect three cassette tapes to turn this one on. Fortunately, all the cassette tapes appear in the same position every game, meaning that gamers will only have to memorize three spawn points. As such, once they have turned on the hidden song once, they should have no problem replaying the track in their future matches.

Mauer Der Toten’s Cassette Tape Locations

  • Cassette Tape 1: Garment Factory
  • Cassette Tape 2: Electronics Store
  • Cassette Tape 3: Blasted Suite

The first cassette tape players should come across is found in the Garment Factory. The location should be familiar to those that have upgraded Klaus, as the area houses the robot’s upgrade machine. The tape rests on an unfinished mannequin, sitting where its head should be. The specific mannequin will have some glowing purple writing that reads “power” above its head. Once found, players can gather the other two tapes.

The second tape is found in the Electronics Store, which is located next to the beloved Call of Duty Zombies perk Juggernog. It rests on the middle shelf next to some radios. The shelf is straight in front of players as soon as they walk into the room. Finally, there is the last cassette tape, which is found on West Berlin Street. Specifically, it is in the Blasted Suite that players zipline up to, and it rests on a desk next to another zipline. The Blasted Suite is to the left of the Trials Machine.

How Mauer Der Toten’s Song Differs From Others

As soon as Mauer Der Toten’s song starts playing, gamers may be caught off guard by its style. The song is from the Punk Rock genre, and while Treyarch has experimented with different genres before, this is certainly a new sound for the mode. Still, the instrumental sections fit well with killing the undead, and players should get some enjoyment out of gunning down foes with the CRBR-S while “Amoeba” plays in the background.

Aside from “Amoeba” tracing back to a different type of music, it is also a licensed track as opposed to an original song. Performed by the band Adolescents back in the 1980s, it does match up with the Cold War setting of the latest Zombies mode. Still, for those hoping to hear something brand-new like Firebase Z’s song "Lost," this track could come as a bit of disappointment. As such, hopefully Kevin Sherwood and the iconic voices from past Zombies songs are heard in the next map’s hidden music.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
