Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 5 has brought a lot of content for the game’s Outbreak mode. One of these additions is the grapple gun, and it did not take long for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies fans to find an issue with the gadget.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s grapple gun works much like the one used by the Specialist Ruin in Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and 4. The gadget sees players aiming at a surface, with the hook, then letting go of the aim button once they have decided where they want to go. They will then latch onto the surface in front of them, flying forward with ease. Given Outbreak’s massive regions, the tool is invaluable, even if it does come with the downside of limited charges. It can also help players reach high-up essence canisters, adding to its usefulness.

Reddit user wubwubcat2 was messing around with the item when they stumbled upon one of Outbreak’s optional objectives. The side mission in question sees players feeding a dragon at the rocket site, with the player needing to offer zombies to the beast. Depending on how many zombies the player downs in the circle, the greater the reward will be once the rocket leaves the area. However, wubwubcat2 was not interested in the extra bit of loot.

Once a dragon rocket is full, it will fly into space, something that likely sounded appealing to the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War player. As such, once the rocket begins to take off, the player hooks themselves onto it. Surprisingly, it works, with the gamer briefly flying into the sky alongside the device. However, the rope eventually snaps, and they fall from above. While this would normally not be a huge deal, as players do not take fall damage with Stamin-Up equipped, the player did not fall properly.

Instead, when they pulled their parachute, the Outbreak fan ended up completely sideways. As such, they landed the same way, with the player permanently stuck walking at an angle. While it does offer an interesting way to explore the world, as players can essentially pretend they are wall-running, it is likely more frustrating than cool. With the player stuck turning their head in order to keep playing, this bug likely makes those who suffer from it uncomfortable. The clip does not show if the player's camera goes back to normal after teleporting, either.

While wubwubcat does admit that they were essentially looking for trouble based on their grappling hook test, hopefully the bug gets fixed soon. With other Season 5 additions like the flamethrower working properly, the grapple gun should as well.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
