There is no shortage of Easter eggs in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies, but the most terrifying has to do with a giant creature that moves through the woods of Die Maschine. The sight of the beast is sure to put shivers down the spine of even the most seasoned Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies player, and its appearance can be triggered rather easily.

While some fans of the Zombies mode in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War would prefer to pet Plaguehounds, those willing to stand toe-to-toe with the massive monster can do so by entering the Dark Aether at Round 45 or higher. They should then head for the Quick Revive pond, looking to the forest in the distance. Sure enough, a unique growling noise can be heard, with the ground shaking as the monster takes each step.

However, popular Easter egg solver and exploit finder Glitching Queen found out that there is a bit more to this Easter egg. Intriguingly, players can change the path of the creature, forcing it to enter the actual Die Maschine map — though it will not be able to be seen better or fought, as players are trapped below the map. To do this step, players must enter the Dark Aether at the end of round 19, 29, 39, and so on.

From there, they must head down to the Pack-A-Punch area and survive for 115 seconds — a clever nod to the element that created the Zombies. If done correctly, players will be trapped in the Pack-A-Punch area, feeling stomps directly above them. Once it stops, they can head up to Quick Revive pond to find a free Max Ammo. Like the Coffin Dance Easter egg, players that complete this mini quest are given a sizable reward.

The only downside with the Easter egg is that it is entirely random if it will trigger or not. As pointed out by Glitching Queen, the Max Ammo portion of the side quest is purely RNG-based, meaning that players can get lucky right away or not have the monster enter the map no matter how many times they do the steps correctly. Regardless, the Easter egg is interesting, as it shows off a previously unseen, tree-like creature that is referred to as an Elder God in Die Machine’s Zombies intel.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies fans may eventually do battle with the monstrous creature, as its mangled arms certainly look like they are designed for a boss fight. However, its generous gift of a Max Ammo could imply that it is friendly, leaving players with questions that need to be answered in Season 2's Zombies map.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
