After multiple teases, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies has finally received a full gameplay trailer. The gameplay provides plenty of answers regarding the mode’s setting and core mechanics, while also showcasing a few big surprises in store for Black Ops Cold War fans.

While nothing was said regarding the supposed Zombies Royale mode coming to Warzone, virtually every other question was answered regarding the game mode. The trailer showcases the main map of the game at launch, Die Maschine, which includes a graffiti-covered version of the original Call of Duty Zombies map Nacht Der Untoten. The trailer offers a look at a redesigned perk machine for Speed Cola as well as original perk designs such as Juggernog and Quick Revive, all of which have their own upgrade system.

Classic Zombies weapons are seen, such as the Ray Gun, the original wonder weapon. Pack-A-Punch and the mystery box are also showcased in the trailer, with official confirmation from Lead Zombies Writer Craig Houston confirming that the story takes place within the original Aether universe. While Black Ops Cold War Zombies will follow a new cast of characters, the original story remains canon and things from past games will be referenced within the new story.

As for the new features present within the trailer, Black Ops Cold War Zombies seems to be doing a lot of things that fans have wanted for some time. An optional exfiltration feature allows players to end high round games without dying, an interesting new mechanic that provides a new twist on gameplay. Weapons will share progression between all Black Ops Cold War modes and players can start matches with whatever weapon they want, another neat addition. Fans of the story will now be able to view recordings and watch cutscenes whenever they want to, and biggest of all, post-launch Zombies maps will be free like Black Ops Cold War’s other content.

The trailer also showed off killstreaks like chopper gunners which are completely new to the mode, with cross-play and cross-gen progress also being available for Zombies fans. A brief tease at the end of the trailer hints at a bonus map featuring none other than Call of Duty icon Frank Woods, heavily hinting that there will likely be at least two maps offered on launch day. The Woods map seems to be set at night within Vietnam, a vastly different setting from Die Maschine.

The trailer ends with a teaser of the upcoming multiplayer beta for Black Ops Cold War. While Zombies will not feature in the beta, this first look trailer should give players plenty to discuss and analyze over the next few weeks.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will be available November 13th for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
