Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies players may need to wait until Season 6 for a new Survival experience, but other content is being added to the mode until then. One new addition to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is the Death Perception perk, and fans now know how it can be upgraded.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies’ Season 5 perk was confirmed yesterday, and it should be familiar to those that played Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. In that game’s version of Zombies, Death Perception allowed players to see undead enemies through walls. Arrows would also appear on the corners of the screen to warn players if they were about to be attacked by an enemy that was off camera. Its modifier saw players dealing bonus damage to enemy weak points, though it seems like that specific feature will be left behind.

With Mule Kick’s leaked perk tiers proving accurate last Season, it would make sense if that same thing were to happen this time around. While fans should obviously take any leak with a grain of salt, the information comes from @TheMW2Ghost, a source that has proven to be credible in the past. Alongside the perk’s default ability, players will be able to gain five additional upgrades by spending their Aetherium Crystals. While Death Perception may not be the strongest perk, it does provide a few useful boosts.

Tier 1’s upgrade is undoubtedly the least beneficial, as it sees the mini map’s range increased. With experienced Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies players not using the mini map at all, this bonus will be negligible for the most part. Tier 2, however, brings back the danger indicators from the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 version of Death Perception. This should be fairly useful, as should Tier 3’s 20% increase in salvage gain.

Tier 4 is also good, particularly in high rounds. It sees players dealing more damage to armored Zombies, which can be a pain to take down without the Shatter Blast Ammo Mod. Finally, there is Tier 5, which could make Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s Outbreak mode significantly more enjoyable. Players will be able to see crates, salvage drops, and essence vials through walls. As a result, they would need to be a lot less thorough when searching buildings, as anything that does not contain resources can easily be skipped over.

With Death Perception taking up one of the two remaining perk slots, it seems likely that one of the leaked perks was scrapped. While some fans will surely be disappointed that either Double Tap or PhD Flopper will not be making the cut, Death Perception does seem like it will be a balanced replacement.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
