Fans have been learning a lot more about Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War in the past several weeks, and a message found in Modern Warfare yesterday teased the Black Ops Cold War Zombies trailer would be dropping soon. Today, the devs dropped a "first look" video on YouTube along with a blog post welcoming players to a "new chapter" in Call of Duty Zombies gameplay.

Activision released a lot of info about Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War's Zombies mode, along with the news that all DLC maps will come at no cost to the player when they launch. The blog post has a lot of details players can dig into, including the much-anticipated reveal of its characters and storyline.

Zombies mode in this game introduces a new narrative and characters to the franchise. Players return to the Requiem response team from the original Black Ops game, which Black Ops Cold War is a direct sequel to. Led by Grigori Weaver, the team will explore a World War 2 bunker crawling with the undead, and players have the potential to find some decades-old secrets that could change "upend the global order."

However, Requiem isn't alone, as the Soviet Omega Group also has a vested interest in exploring the mysteries happening all around the world. Both Requiem and the Omega Group have unique casts of characters that can impact the player character's quest, including a contact called Sam who has some important KGB secrets for the player. One can expect that these anomalies will tie back to the undead, and hopefully make this Black Ops Cold War game mode memorable.

The Black Ops Cold War Zombies mechanics are expected to be a blend of old favorites with new technology, judging by what the devs have revealed so far. While the Zombies formula has been used for a while, many players may be interested to see the Cold War-inspired spin this game takes while pitting the player against a zombie horde.

Black Ops Cold War's Zombies mode won't just pit players against the undead, but against foreign intrigue and potential backstabbers. While there's still more information players have yet to find out, like which Call of Duty Zombies maps will make reappearances in this game, the trailer and blog post should at least whet fans' appetites.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War launches November 13 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
