Treyarch has yet to discuss any changes being made to Warzone throughout the life cycle of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, but a new gameplay image may provide the first look at Call of Duty's next battle royale offering. Taken from a new trailer focused on the Fireteam Dirty Bomb game mode, the huge Black Ops Cold War map where the mode is set may very well be a part of a larger Warzone map.

Despite leakers previously claiming that the Warzone map will stay the same upon the release of Black ops Cold War, the map shown in the trailer for Fireteam Dirty Bomb looks quite different from the map Warzone players are currently playing on. Featuring numerous, bright green trees and locales that look more like a Vietnam setting than a Russian one, if this really is a new Warzone map, it appears to be quite different from the one set in Modern Warfare's fictional country of Verdansk. However, it is equally possible that this is simply a new location being added to the current Warzone map, albeit with a very different color palette.

While the trailer footage showcases a forest that was recently part of a Black Ops Cold War and Warzone map datamine, adding credibility to the leak, the most damning piece of evidence regarding the Fireteam map being part of Warzone is an image tweeted out by multiple Call of Duty insiders. With both ModernWarzone and CharlieIntel posting the image at the same time and hinting (or outright saying) that it shows part of the battle royale map, reputable CoD leaker Tom Henderson believes it was not a coincidence.

Per Tom Henderson, “There’s a reason ‘certain people’ have tweeted out the Fireteam map looks like it could be in Warzone," concluding the post with a sly face emoji. An obvious hint that CharlieIntel and ModernWarzone have inside sources regarding Black Ops Cold War like Henderson’s, it seems as if both websites have let the Warzone news slip. If the leakers’ sources prove correct, fans of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War already know what part of the new (or updated) battle royale map will look like.

With the Fireteam Dirty Bomb game mode supposedly taking place on a portion of the Call of Duty: Warzone map, it is easy to make comparisons to Modern Warfare’s Ground War mode. Ground War also saw sections of Verdansk added as new maps throughout each season of content, a system that will likely return in Black Ops Cold War to help save on resources. If Treyarch follows the same system, new Warzone locations are likely to be separated as huge standalone maps for Fireteam Dirty Bomb going forward.

If Fireteam Dirty Bomb is indeed following the Ground War system of map design, it offers the first clear glimpse of a tree-filled location in the Warzone map. With a Zombie Royale Warzone variant supposedly coming to the game as well, players may have also gotten their first look at one of the areas that will be overrun with hordes of the undead.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will be available November 13th on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
