A certain attachment in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is giving players a huge advantage. After a recent update by Treyarch, a gamer discovers a glitch that allows for a game-breaking strategy in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.

Treyarch's most recent patch for the game introduces a variety of new features. A major content update, it includes a host of new modes, maps, and benefits for players enjoying the first person shooter. With all these changes, squads are going to be testing different strategies from weapons to attachments. It is now known that one of the body attachments available is going to be dominating the meta game shortly.

Reddit user AvHsA posts a video on the site exposing how the Tiger Team Spotlight is now the best attachment in Black Ops Cold War because it breaks the game. From the video, it looks like the Spotlight is able to highlight enemy name tags through solid walls. In a first person shooter, this is clearly an advantage due to getting the one up on opponents. From safety, the player abusing this glitch can safely fire on targets without the other person even knowing they are in the crosshairs.

It seems like currently the bug is effecting one of the newer maps from the update, Express. But since the problem relates to an attachment, it is possible that it could work on other maps in the game. Winning a shootout in the Call of Duty series typically relies on quick reflexes and strong game sense. With the Tiger Team Spotlight attachment effectively allowing a type of wallhack, this philosophy goes out the window.

Game development is a complex process, so it is not uncommon for glitches and bugs to appear. This one is going to be a pretty big deal because as knowledge spreads, more players will take advantage of it. Sooner or later everyone will be using the Spotlight and turning the game into chaotic mess. It is likely that Treyarch will patch the bug as quickly to prevent combat from getting out of control

Even with all the content in the recent patch, it is disappointing that an issue like this made it through. Even the Zombies map that came with the patch, Firebase Z, has a game-breaking bug too. It seems like Treyarch could spend a bit more time checking updates for problems. Especially when Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War never seems to have glitches with the endless microtransactions available. Nevertheless, the fix for this issue should be quick thanks to the significant consequences it has.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
