While some Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies fans expected more from the Super Easter egg, others appreciated the update and the bonus items that it provided. Alongside a stylish watch, a Calling Card, and some emblems of each Call of Duty Zombies character, The Pact gave players access to a purple rarity weapon for every game going forward.

This saves Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War players a fair bit of salvage in round-based maps and Outbreak, speeding up their matches and allowing them to save their resources for killstreaks, craftable items, or rarity upgrades for their other weapon. However, players planning to use this upgrade to make a specific challenge easier are out of luck, as gamers have discovered that “Good Enough” requires that The Pact is disabled.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Players Will Still Need To Do “Good Enough” Normally

For those unfamiliar with the “Good Enough” Dark Ops challenge, it is one of the most difficult tasks in all of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies. Second only to “Social Distancing,” this challenge asks players to reach round 20 using only their starting Zombies loadout with no upgrades. Seeing how quick default weapons can become weak, this can get very challenging without a proper strategy, especially when the Megatons or other boss Zombies start to spawn in.

With The Pact upgrading the rarity of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War loadout weapons, though, some fans assumed that this challenge would become a lot easier. After all, a purple rarity shotgun or M16 would mow down Zombies fairly consistently even without Pack-A-Punch, removing the difficulty from this Dark Ops challenge. Unfortunately for those excited about this trick, Treyarch realized that this would be possible, and in turn it disabled the challenge if players do The Pact.

While this may be disappointing to players that were planning on doing the Dark Ops challenge with their permanently upgraded weapon, it is fair to everyone else that already did it naturally. After all, many Zombies fans did this challenge the hard way after the game released, having no idea that a Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Super Easter egg reward would come one day. A purple rarity weapon would have made the difficulty trivial, so it makes sense that The Pact disables this challenge.

For those that still want the “Good Enough” Calling Card but activated The Pact, returning to Outbreak will be necessary. Once in this mode, they can wait for Zoo to appear in the region rotation or find one of the hidden masks to teleport directly there. After interacting with the monument again, the Pact will be disabled, removing the purple rarity from starting weapons and allowing players to go for “Good Enough” once again.

On the bright side, The Pact does not seem to disable other Dark Ops challenges, so it could make things like “The Anvil” and “Social Distancing” a bit easier. Still, it may not be worth the risk for those wanting to make sure that their efforts are not wasted. Before making The Pact, Call of Duty Zombies fans should be sure that they have completed “Good Enough” if they care about Calling Cards. While the boosted weapon rarity is an awesome bonus for loyal players, this downside is one that completionists should be aware of.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
