Activision Blizzard released Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 6 today and players from around the world are eagerly downloading the latest update. While many Call of Duty fans are finding success in downloading the Season 6 update, others are encountering a massive bug.
Reddit user Forever_Nocturnal joined several other Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fans in voicing their concerns about the Season 6 update. According to Forever_Nocturnal, the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 6 update is a whopping 231GB on the Xbox Series X/S. The file size is due to the download bug forcing the player to re-download the full game in addition to the Season 6 update.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 6 brings loads of additional content to the FPS. There are new multiplayer maps, changes to the Warzone map, and the conclusion to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War's Zombies game mode. Although the large chunk of additional content is bringing lapsed Cold War fans back, some may be turned away by an update download exceeding 200GB.
While Forever_Nocturnal has confirmed that the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 5 update was only 12GB for them. Other players encountered this same download bug with Cold War Season 5, forcing them to re-download the entire game sooner than Forever_Nocturnal. The accurate file size of Cold War Season 6 is closer to 28GB, significantly more than the last season, but significantly less than the full game.
Although several Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fans stated to Forever_Nocturnal that they've encountered the same download bug, many other players may not even report having the same bug. Considering the file size of Cold War exceeding 200GB, it takes up a large chunk of most hard drives and solid-state drives. This file size makes it unlikely that a Call of Duty fan isn't going to notice this download bug when Cold War goes from one season to the next.
