Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War's Season 5 is nearly here. As the time towards the launch of the latest season steadily marches forward, Call of Duty is releasing more information detailing what players can expect from the latest version of the Battle Pass.

Officially unveiled last week, Black Ops Cold War and Warzone's fifth season introduces a new Operator in the form of eyepatch-wearing Perseus hacker Kitsune. Developer Treyarch released other information like the new Field Upgrade and Perk coming to Zombies mode as well, and is now shedding light on the Battle Pass skins players can unlock at different tiers.

Detailed on the official Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War website, players will have a variety of skins to unlock this season. At Tier 0, Kitsune will be unlocked, as will the "Rebel Leader" Garcia skin. The "Payback" Woods skin is the reward for reaching Tier 10, with two additional skin variants attainable by completing his Operator Mission (as is the case for the others). For Tier 50, players will receive the "Scuba Diver" Baker skin, which, as the name implies, is Baker in full tactical scuba gear. Finally, at Tier 100, is the Kitsune "Samurai" Ultra-rarity skin. The impressive-looking skin features the Japanese Operator in a blend of traditional samurai and modern gear with flashing light patterns throughout.

The final tier of Call of Duty's Season 5 Battle Pass is another Ultra Operator skin with light effects, which hopefully won't suffer from the same issues as the last one. Fans are furious about the Magma Fury Ultra Skin, which has a vastly different appearance in-game than it does in the store. While the store depicts vibrant fiery effects throughout the skin, it's virtually nonexistent when actually playing in a match. Activision attempted to address the issue by stating the skin's in-store appearance is from Black Ops Cold War, and the effects hardly show in Warzone is that it runs on a different engine, though it still left many dissatisfied.

Regardless of the Tier 100 skin's visual effect efficacy, players will have to wait a bit longer to get to grinding. While initially planned to start tonight, Activision has announced that Call of Duty's Season 5 has been delayed. The reason reportedly given by the publisher is a vague "testing issue" which has apparently posed a big enough of an issue to warrant a full 24 hour delay. Season 5 is expected to instead go live August 13 at midnight EST, or August 12 at 9pm PST.

News for the soon-to-be launched season is certainly exciting for CoD fans everywhere. However, with fall quickly approaching, so too does the next entry in the long-running FPS series. In fact, the Call of Duty Season 5 art has a CoD 2021 teaser hidden in it, revealing a potentially important detail.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
